Providing groceries to Child Care Institutions (CCI’s)

The unprecedented pandemic which began at the start of 2020 resulted in the hardship to many children staying in Child Care Institutions (CCI’s) who do not have a privilege to stay with their family.

Children residing at Child Care Institutions (CCI’s) are predominantly exposed to health issues related to stunting, wasting, under nourishment, anemia as well as poor hygiene conditions. Such children have poorer immunity and are susceptible to contract the COVID-19 virus and at risk of developing a more severe infection should they get the virus. Medline India CSR team stepped forward to support the CCI’s for ensuring nutrition and hygiene for the children. With help of Catalysts for Social Action (CSA), we identified 5 CCI’s in and around Pune sheltering a total of 190 children between age group of 6 to 18 years and contributed towards providing milk, rice, dal, wheat, oil, salt, sugar and other essential food and hygiene supplies.

Smart Screens with speakers and educational software was installed in these centers. All students who enrolled in all five centers were benefited through this Project.

Inauguration of Water ATMs with RO plants

Getting clean and safe drinking water is a daily challenge for many Indian households, especially in rural areas. Villagers have to travel long distance to fetch a single bucket of water and carry that all the way back home. To address to this growing issue, Medline India installed Water ATMs with RO plants at two nearby villages in Satara district, namely Savarghar and Durgalwadi.

With the installation of Water ATMs, around 300+ families with over 2000 villagers will get benefitted. They now have access to clean, potable drinking water for themselves as well as livestock. This will also help in reducing rising health issues caused by feculent water.

This project was executed by Deepastambha Charitable Trust in association with Gramarthan project, and with the help by villagers.

Provision of sewing machines for women

Medline India distributed 6 sewing machines for regular stitching as well as specialized stitching like jute products to women from Parvati community area, Pune India.

The part of donation also includes imparting different skills and trade wise trainings to the beneficiaries of a cluster of 3-4 slum communities. Training beneficiaries to stitch products at their home is one of the primary focus of Women Empowerment Program of our partner Seva Sahyog Foundation, as it also enables women to earn their livelihood by making them self-reliant as well as to build stronger economies, improve their quality of life and bring gender equality in the community.
